Animals and Data

Course materials

Welcome

Welcome to the course website for Animals and Data (Dyr og Data).

Animals and Data (Dyr og Data) is 10 ECTS course designed to prepare you to work with data and to think about data statistically, specifically within the animal science context.

The course is taught each Tuesday and Friday at 12:30-16:00 from August 28th to December 4th (except in week 42 where there is no in-class teaching — you still have to work during this week).

The course is taught in English and all materials provided will be in English.

A central part in learning about data is to actually work with data. Therefore, you will also see that Animals and Data is arranged differently to your other courses, as it will involve more practical work during the classes.

An overview of the entire course is available in the lecture plan.

The first part of the course will have a focus on a range of topics within the field of applied data science; knowledge that you will then use in the second part of the course where you will do project work in groups. This project work will result in a group portfolio that forms the basis of your final examination. See the examination page for an overview of the examination format.

We’re very much looking forward to meeting you all and starting your journey into the exciting world of data in the animal science.

Preparing for class

Classes take place on Tuesdays and Fridays, 12:30–16:00. This is a flipped classroom: prepare before each meeting using the assigned videos and readings, then use class time for discussion, analysis, and practical activities.

Under the Classes menu in the navigation bar at the top of this page, you will find links to each class, where all the content for that class is contained.

ImportantFor each class

Open the relevant page from the course schedule. Complete the Before class tasks before you arrive, bring the activity materials to class, and finish the After class tasks afterwards.
